It’s been awhile, but I believe most of it is essentially covering theme of accurately representing data with graphics. Yes, it is quite old, but it is absolutely relevant and has “fresh” feeling. The situation remains largely the same today, in France as in other countries. There was a problem filtering semilogy right now.
The author asks many of the important questions: This is no indictment of the arts, just a pragmatic concern about the future citizens and voters in these countries.
It provides very clear and beautiful theory of graphicx visualization that you can apply on practice immediately. The first part analyzes the properties and rules of the graphic system breaking down the variants and invariants, the plane and the “retinal variables”, and combines these and more into rules for construction and vraphics.
